EQUIPMENT

When entering the ice you should be equipped as follows:
  • Backpack with waiststrap and strap between the legs, min.volume of40 ltr. It should contain a full change of clothes and a small turkish towel all packed in waterproof plasitic bags. Then, should you fall through the ice, you should use these bags like this: On top of your stockings you put 6 liter freezerbags, on top of that you put your thick wollen socks who in turn goes in 6 liter freezerbags again. This is how you avoid your wet boots to soak wet the layer next to your feet.
  • Doublepike, ice-pike + extrastick or two skisticks with needlesharp points. You could easily sharpen them with a household file.
  • Safetyline, is to be attached to your waistbelt. You should be able to reach it without taking your backpack off.
  • Iceprods, you should wear them high up under your cheek.
  • Whistle, preferably without ball that could freeze stuck.
Skisticks for all runners is NOT enough. You MUST carry an ice-pike and most importantly:
2 fully equipped friends.
